RedDog: My own experience has been that aluminum paint comes out of the can a whole lot thinner than silver and so tends to run and puddle; I painted rims a few weeks ago and used the grey primer (rust retardant) followed in 48 hours by silver paint and it came out looking pretty good. RedTed/MO.
