I cleaned up the one on my C and resoldered carefully. It worked, but use care to remove gas from float first, and do not add any more solder than absolutely necessary. I actually made a bigger hole where bad spot was then removed gas and soldered hole shut. I couldn't find a float for my Carter or I would have replaced. Good Luck
