Fisk: I posted last week how years ago a mechanic showed me how much rust\crud film he could "swab" out of my very good aircraft engine cylinders after only 3 weeks in a semi open hanger(in Minn early winter) He also told me about how leaving high time used oil in it over long periods can eat away at the bearings due to the acid in the hi-time used oil. It is NOT a catch-22(dern if ya do & dern if ya don't)...if you feel your engine is worth many times more than several quarts of oil. I most certainly felt my $25K engine was worth more than $15 worth of oil. Since that time I prefer newer low time oil in it over winter and after the first hour or two of use in the Spring, changing to all new oil\filters. Use that oil in all the unimportant engines if ya really need to save a few dollars.. The best thing yet I've seen is a small 25 or 40 watt heater in the engine full time over Winter to keep condesation to a bare minimum. That electric cost is almost nothing compared to oil or an engine. ralph
