Mix the seed with fertilizer then use the broadcast spreader to spread the mixture you want. Or you can use lime or sand, anything which will feed well in the spreader and not be detrimental to the soil or timothy. Make sure you mix it well. We have mixed seed into a standard broadcast fertilizer spreader and had acceptable results. The seed, being lighter, may not go as far as the carrier material, so you may want to make your passes closer together, and account for that when you are figuring your mix.
