Dave it sounds as if the brakes were set up too tight and wore prematurely. Tractor brakes should last for years on a hobby farm or any other kind of farm. I'm not familiar with the specs for setting up a 504, but from your description that's far too much wear in a short period of time. Have you ever noticed heat or smell from the brakes?...this could indicate being set too tight. Good luck getting it sorted out. Mike in Exeter Ontario
