Changing from + to - ground.

I have the generator from my M off at the shop being rewired for 12V. My dad took it in there and told him to wire it for 12V and change it to negative ground. I was planning on just leaving it positive ground but daddy thought it would be safer to have it to negative ground. So my question is, what all do i have to do to finsih switching the tractor to negative ground? The M is a 1940 model and has a magneto. What all do i have to change? wires? starter? gauges? thanks for the help. you guys really know your stuff.
