I put an original NOS radiator core in my 10-20. It came out of what was left of the box in a flat black color. According to every radiator shop guy I ever talked to said don't paint radiator cores with anything other than radiator core paint. It is cheap stuff and just helps keep the fins and tubes from corroding. A layer of better paint will help "insulate" the radiator core and not let it transfer heat like it should. It would be my guess that IH had a cover they put over the radiator core when they painted the tractors. I would doubt they would want to spend the extra money for paint on radiator cores when it could cause problems anyway.Plus the over spray on the core would look sloppy.
