I have a 450 that did the same thing for a long time. It was all I could do to get the tractor to start. When it did, it smoked every bug out for 2 miles. I did some work to the ignition, plugs, wires, and stoned the points and it started better. It starts like a champ now, and I really don't know why. I know that is absolutely no help, but hang in there. The answer always presents itself sooner or later. Carp
