N stands for narrow tread width in many tractor models. Farmall B rear wheel width can be adjusted from a minimum of 64" to a maximum of 92". The BN is 8" narrower thus the minimum rear wheel width is 56" and the maximum is 84". This is measured to the center of the wheel and the narrow version is to allow cultivation of those crops which are usually planted in narrower rows. Dave.
