How do you know for sure it is losing a gallon. This probably isn't your problem but when you fill your radiator clear full and then run tractor the water expands when it gets warm and it needs someplace to go. A cup and a 1/2 or so would be normal to lose under normal running condition. You ussually just leave coolant level at this level. If it is losing more than this amount then you got a cooling problem. I would check the air flow through the radiator and blow out dirt if necessary. Make sure fan is working. Then if problem doesn't go away I bet you will need to flush radiator out and maybe even have it rodded out at a radiator repair shop. I had a tractor one time that gradually worked its way out of time and eventually got to where it would over heat and boil over and sort of vaporlock. You might just check the timing out to make sure it is ok before you spend any money.
