Hi Jeff: There may be slop in the governor where the spring makes its connection. That is where you probably will see plenty of wear. If you have a welder just spot weld it back where it belongs and you should be fine. I would check out the rest of the linkage first. There may be from the governor to the carb. contact of the rod. From the throttle to the governor there may not be the correct springs or pressure, or the rod may be in contact with the engine block? Hope this helps!
