You guys are all wrong.. To remove the inner axle bearing, you have to have the tractor supported on the axle housing. Remove the trans deck, and remove the retainer bolt that holds the axle to the bull gear, and remove the outer axle bearing/seal retainer cap. With the cap removed and the bull gear retainer removed, you can pull the axle out thru the axle housing (you will probably want someone to hold on to the bull gear as the axle is pulled away). With the axle removed you can remove the bull gear, and then unbolt the inner bearing retainers. Next all you need to d is replace the bearing, and reassemble in reverse.. alot easier than takind the whole housing off as one unit.. If the gasket between the axle housing and the trans case is leaking, I would remove the housing and replace the gasket..
