300 leaking water in a bad, bad place

i purchased a 300 that had sit quite a few years(without a muffler or cap) and before i tore anything off of it (with the exception of the tinwork) I took the oil drain plug off and poured water in the radiater to see if there was a leak in the block somewhere, but instead of the water coming out of the oil drain, it came out of a small hole in the exhaust manifold. i then took out the spark plugs and noticed that the no. 3 cylinder was full off the water i had just put in the radiater. now, to get to the question, is it a crack in the cylinder, the head, or just a bad head gasket?
