I think if it has a loader and power steering, and is in good condition, the 424 is worth $5000. If it is a diesel, it is a little more valuable. Power steering was an option, so some have it, some don't. I used to own a gas 424. It is a good heavy tractor and if the hydraulic are in good condition, I think it will have no trouble handlling round bales on the 3 pt hitch. Especially with the loader on there for counterbalance. I used mine mostly to bush hog and it was surprizingly strong with a 6 ft bush hog. It would go right through heavy grass in low range third which as I recall was close to 4 MPH. The only major trouble I ever had was the 3 pt lift. Had to have a new piston put in the hydraulic lift cylinder because the seal blew out of the old one. Also, the Mahindra tractors still sold new are copies mechanically of the 424 and many of the mechanical parts are interchangeable and much cheaper than the IH parts. When the lift piston was replaced in mine, a Mahindra part was used at about 1/3 the cost of the IH part.
