Not nesecarily,it shouldnt pull down 10 amps with just the switch on,if the wires on the meter are reversed itll show a 10 amp charge when the engine isnt even running.Im wondering but I think there is a short in the wiring somewhere or it isnt wired up right at the regulator.If the generator was running on pos. ground before it should still be ok if the thing was polarized right.Im just shooting in the wind,joe, but I think you have something wrong on the regualator wirng.Ill email you a diagram if you need it.
