300 Utility oil leak

First let me say what a great site this is. I have read the help so many of you supply to novices like me. The other day I had my 300 Utility at a fairly steep downhill incline while going forward, and a lot of oil (transmission oil?) came pouring out from under a cover near the front of the transmission. It was always ok when operating on the level. What is involved here? Is it expensive to repair? I know this last question is perhaps too general, but can Case IH dealerships work on these tractors, or are 300s way too old? Thanks for any comments.
