Probably kerosene. Take the cap off and smell it. The kerosene tank is probably bigger, right? Is there some sort of transfer valve on the dash? Some of these old tractors were designed to be started and warmed up on gas then switched to kerosene or "tractor fuel" which I understand to be a really low quality fuel that was cheap. Try the Ford board for more info.
