A 12 volt conversion is really easy, but personally I don't think it makes that much difference. As long as the battery cables are in good shape the 6 volt should start it just fine. If you have to buy an alternator or have your generator converted why not just have it rebuilt? Twelve volt batteries that will fit in a 6 volt box are kinda expensive and still don't fit just right. I guess the big advantage is the 12 volt batteries usually have a better warranty(if the store don't know it's on a tractor) and the 12 volt seem to last a little longer. That's my $.02, If you decide to convert everyone here will try to help you through it.
