Super A Front End

Hi, On my 53 Super A I bought a little while back there are a few welds. Two of these are on the front axle assembly. (I don't know the correct technical name for the bits) The two vertical pieces that run from the back of the front wheel bearing up to the front axle proper that have the steering arms connected at the top. These appear to have broken just below where the go into the front axle and have been welded. This appears to have been done some time ago. Is this O.K.? Any opinions? Thanks.
