Greetings, Thank you for earlier replies to my inquiry. They were encouraging, though now I know my troubles are more serious. I counted on the worst, so I'm not too dissapointed.
Well, I bought the tractor! I'm now a proud IH tractor owner and may soon be a regular visitor here. It's a 1972 model 3514 Tractor-Loader-Backhoe with a 239-D engine as far as I can tell, and no forward gears. Within 2 hours of getting it home, I had the cover off the front of the transmission, where the reversing drive is, had disassembled the and shift collar, and was looking at a forward drive spline without any splines. They're all broken off. I see that this tractor will need to get split though that won't happen for at least a month. Being new to IH machinery, I'm looking for advice on where to get a new drive collar (ref no 27 in the parts drawing, p/n 370 500 R2). Does anyone have suggestions on other stuff to check / change while I've got the thing apart? I'm also wondering if anyone can tell me what Ag tractor models this 3514 is similar to. It's harder to find stuff when just looking by the industrial model number. I do have an owner's manual, parts manual, and shuttle transmission manual (the latter is not my transmission - I'd like to sell / trade that manual). Excitedly,
Klaus Renner

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken by Harold alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that the major was produced late 19
