You could have a crack in the pick up tube or it may be ready to fall off. It is located in the rear end housing . You can remove the 3 pt. top link plate and look in and see it . But ya need longer arms then i got to reach it . I have allways pulled the rockshaft housing . IF everything is not working It maybe the splines on the pressure plate and the PTO input shaft failing . When everything stops see if the PTO is still working as it has it's own pump and as long as the main shaft is turning the PTO will work But if it is not then one must look to the pressure plate and the PTO input shaft.
