A frost boil is a when the ground is frozen deep through the winter, In the spring it doesn’t thaw out to drain. These appear out of no where, usually where we didn’t have snow cover during the winter. We don’t count the days below freezing , just the ones below zero and we had quite a few this winter. In the spring they show up out of no where when you are during spring work.
