Belly or pull? Ups and downs for each. Belly mower can't be beat for mowing in tight areas w/ lots of turns. Pull behind needs a lot more room to turn and is not so good in tight areas. Belly mower is a major pain in the --- to mount ( you have to slide all that iron in from the side and then lift into place) and the long drive belts can be a pain to keep tight. With the belly mower in place it may not be possible to use the tractor for much else. Pull mowers can be mounted in just a few min. with little effort. Either way you do need an over-running clutch on the PTO so that the tractor will not be driven forward by the mower inertia, when you step on the clutch.
