I always read where your supposed to loosen the plugs 2-3 turns, replace the plug wires and restart the engine and run for a couple minutes to blow any carbon particles out of the combustion chamber that may cause the exh. valve to leak a little. Then pull ALL the plugs, and test each cyl. preferrably with a screw-in gauge for 5-6 revolutions of the engine with the throttle wide open. Any low cylinders give them a squirt of engine oil and retest to see if they come up to pressure. If they do it's probably rings leaking. If it doesn't, it's valves. This gives a repeatable test while the engine is still warm.
