A Final Drive Removal

I need to replace the oil seal between the transmission and the brake, left side of my 1941 A. My shop manual says remove the wheel and unbolt and remove the final drive. I can't belive that it is that easy!! What problems can I expect when I remove the final drive? Because of the oil leak I am planning to replace the brake band and turn the drum. I never had either final drive off. What should I expect?
