The engine and tractor serial numbers were often identical in the early years '39,'40,'41. In later years, around '44 or '45 the numbers began to get mixed up. Supposedly IH made no effort to keep them together while using the same motors for A's, B's, BN's & U2 power units. I think there is a good chance that your B has it's original block since the numbers are not all that far apart, but, there is no way to tell for sure. Check the casting codes on the block and other large castings, if they are close to the same date, the odds are good that it is original.
