Bent Push Rod

My 706 Farmall started knocking today. It has a 282D I suspected a tight valve. When I Pulled the valve cover to inspect, I found a bent push rod.. When I stated the tractor that morning it was fine. I was moving to a different location, and it began to miss like it had trash in an injector. It the "backfired" and started running ok, but you hear the knock through the exhaust. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? I replaced the push rod, and now it runs fine...
