Need Help with Cub Clutch

I just purchased a Cub. The clutch was making a noise and I thought it was shot since it would not totally disengage. I split the tractor and the clutch and pressure plate appear to be fine. However, the forks that hold the throwout bearing appear to be rubbing on the nuts that adjust the height of the throw out forks on the clutch. The noise only stops if the clutch pedal is half depressed. I would guess that the pedal is out of adjustment and causes the throw out bearing to travel to far twards the clutch. However, I am puzzeled as to why the clutch does not totally disengage. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
