Timing marks on flywheel should be in register with a pionter in the flywheel housing when #1 cylinder is firing. You can see this by removing the oval plate on the bottom of the flywheel housing. This is usually held on with a wing nut I think. Depending on what,s wrong with the brakes you may need to remove the final drive. I live in W. Mich. near Grand Rapids.
