Guess I'm lost concerning exactly what you have at this point. According to my copy of the 300U parts manual, the factory 3-point adapters came in two flavors, both working off of the standard Fast-Hitch:

the "three-point implement adapter unit" had a spacing strap which appears to connect to the depth control section of the rockshaft, and would be my guess at what you have, but sounds like your "final alternative";

and the "three point implement adapter and adjustable link" which had a braket for the top link which appears to fit the bolt pattern above the PTO, and doesn't appear to match your description of the adapter you have now. But maybe it is since you mention a top link bracket above the PTO.

Anyway, a suggestion assuming you do have the standard Fast-Hitch: have you checked with some salvage yards to see if you can get a replacement for the depth control piece? As heavy duty as those were, I'd imagine breakage of them such as yours would be pretty rare, and that they'd be fairly readily available. It would be a pretty good project to tear the rockshaft assembly apart to replace this piece, but that would probably be your best bet. The generic 3-point top link attaches to the depth control portion of the rockshaft pretty well, and you could use this instead of the anchor above the PTO which you apparently have now.

Hope this makes some sense and is somewhat helpful.
