You're right, You gotta keep the lugs tight or the rim'll slide on the older non-adjustable type. The adjustable tread width type were optional on the older H's nd M's, but seemed to come "standard" after about '47 or '48. You gotta keep those lug bolts tight on them or you can ruin the cast wheel and then you can't keep 'em tight because the holes are wallowed out on the wheel and the rim. The adjustable wheels are a nice feature, or "were" I guess I should say.
