Maybe you're thinking of the optional low, low speed attachment. My M reprint operators' manual says "This attachment provides a special low gear for Farmall M tractors when used with Harvester-Threshers in heavy conditions." Two sets of front wheel weights were recommended to keep the front end on the ground.

Serial number suffix codes included:
X1L (Gasoline, 7 mph 4th speed, low low speed, 5000 ft altitude)
X1M (Gasoline, 8000 ft altitude, low low speed)
X1N (Gasoline, 7 mph 4th speed, low low speed, 8000 ft altitude)
X3H (Kerosene, 7 mph 4th speed, low low speed)

Whether this is slow enough to use a modern 3pt rototiller, I can't guess!
