my opinion not worth much but... a seller that starts his item at what many would think should be the reserve price really hurts his sale. Lots of us will offer bids if we think we can purchase an item worth the value and frequently find ourselves raising our bid repeatedly. (although the on line auction doesn't generate the competetion that an 'in person' sale does)When I see an auction item started way high, I ask why didn't the seller just list the item in the classifieds at a fixed price? Does he want to move the item or is he out to make a killing? Wait 6 months and post with a lower opening bid and see. D-2
