B Final Drive

I need to replace the axle oil seals in both final drives. And with a stubborn brake drum that wont budge, I'll have to remove the axle. Can the complete axle, gear, and bearing be withdrawn if I remove the retainer ring? The final drive appears to be simlar to the Cub. Cub Final Drive
