I used the 1/2 inch nut system on the small gas tank on my MD. It had been repaired on the bottom outside by someone previously. Did not leak, so I did not use any sealer. So far no problems. I got the Eastwood sealer kit. After reading directions, find you also need to go to Home Depot(or similar) and buy 1/2 gallon of Muratic acid and 1/2 gallon of acetone. If you follow all those directions to the letter, I'm sure you will either have a tank that is in good condition and does not leak or you will have a piece of metal mesh you can use for a bird cage.
