Don't believe it was until the late super Ms and SMTAs that the battery went under the seat, 53 and 54 I believe, anyway yours should be under the fuel tank. Good luck on your project. I assume the tractor is set up for a starter like ring gear on flywheel and all. you won't know what to do when you don't have to crank it/ are you going with a generator or use and alternator and 12 volts? probably cheaper to go the alternator route
