Weather Cap Question

I picked up a cap for the air cleaner on my '43 'H', (to replace the soup can!), and it doesn't fit. Can anyone tell me if the cap for an 'H' and an 'M' are the same? Or is my air cleaner assy wrong? The cap I found has a 2.5" opening, the pipe on my 'H' is 2". Did I get an 'M' cap by mistake? Are they different? Thanks in advance!
