Don't know for sure about the analyzer you have, but a shunt is something that you put in line with current flow, and it outputs 1 mvDC (voltage)per 1 Amp DC (current). Typically, you unhook the wire that runs from the alternator or generator to the battery and place the shunt in line. Connect a DC voltmeter to the shunt leads and set the meter to read DC Volts. Set the meter scale to 300mV or 3 Volts, whichever is the lowest on your meter. (A mV is 1/1000 of a volt.)
