M&W, Heisler, and probably some others made "9-speed" kits for H and M Farmalls. These units doubled the speed of every gear except 5th gear. It was done in the transmission, not the differential. Even though they were after-market kits, lots of them were installed by dealers before the tractors were ever delivered. These units also doubled the speed of the PTO and the transmission-driven hydraulic pump.
