Try not to run down the battery. Your really straining the starter when you crank it when its cold. Check out the glow plugs to see how they are working. If they are wired in series have just one bad one is enough to have none of them work. I hate to say it but Id rather give my diesel the slightest wiff of starting fluid than to just crank and crank on the starter. My 4500 Ford gets just a little to get the first bang off. Remember your trying to turn over lots of cold parts and fluids, its a wonder they start at all.
