Ike, when I said someone had moved your cutout relay(or regulator), I was going by what the IH dealer told me. Maybe he did not know what he was talking about. On my 1947 MD, the regulator is also located at the front mounted on left side of the radiator. If you want to stick with original and use the cutout relay, then I guess you will need to get a wiring harness. However, things will work a lot better if you will forget about the cutout relay and get yourself a regulator. You don't have to worry about setting the charge rate and so on, the regulator just takes care of it and you only need one wire from the regulator to the switch box that is on the steering column. A regulator will cost around $30.
