I also have a Farmall C. My service manual shows there to be an inner and outer seal. I have not tore down the rearend on my tractor to find out if it is that way or not. I do know that the outer bearing is lubed by grease. If your fluid in the trans. is full, and the bearing has grease, I wouldn't go any further. Drive in all gears and listen for any unusual noise. If there isn't any, your fine. These are tough old machines. If your trans. doesn't leak anywhere and holds oil, don't mess up a good thing. Most farmall's I have dealt with leak like a sieve.
