If you are going to do it, do it the right way. It is a business. It should be run like a business. The fact that you are working on tractors is only a small detail. My advice: 1) Be very very selective who you do work for. Turning down work is the hardest and most importain thing to do. 2) Do not try to "do it all". Keep track of your time. You need to know where you make money and where you lose it. Do the ones that make money, let someone else do the other. 3) The people you know will be the ones to screw you. 4) Write everything down. Make sure both you and your customers know what you are doing and how much it will cost.
