Wardner is correct. These brakes were an option offered by IH. They are shown in the IH parts book. You can even still get the disks for them from IH. Although expensive. I have a 1947 MD that has them too. I found out what they were by asking on this forum. It makes your tractor unique and somewhat rare as the Lambert brakes are not very common. I had to reline mine. I did that instead of paying $80 per disk to get new disks from IH. The relining was done by my local clutch/brake shop. They work very well now and do a good job of stopping the tractor. They are easy to take apart.
