Don't know that your question regarding transmission oil has been 100% resolved in my mind. Several people swear by gear oil for the older tractors, indicating that they've had problems (insufficient lubrication, viscosity too low, I guess) with Hytrans. A more recent discussion on this board has indicated Hytrans is definitely the way to go for tractors that have TAs. Since your C doesn't have a TA, I guess my conclusion, based upon what's been posted on this board, is that you probably want to use 85W90 gear oil in your transmission. Those of us with TAs might need to think about this question some more.

Hytrans is what you want to use for "touch control fluid".
