hvlp guns are famous for orange peel. about the only way to avoid it is to lay the paint on as thick as you can with out running it. that will allow the paint to flatten out as it dries. also if you are using paint with temperature sensitive reducer. it is critical to use the right temperature range. the paint can acually dry before it hits the metal, or run becase it dried to slow. i prefer a gravity feed conventional pressure gun. however the are kind of expensive. i think i paid about$250 for mine.
