This is a common problem with the H and M tractors. At one point the inner axle bearing failed, and a ball from that bearing became lodged uinder the bull gear, and broke the housing. There are a couple of ways to fix this problem.. 1. Replace the rear end housing 2. Dissassemble the rear end housing, and have it welded with Nickle or Nomacast 3. Dissassemble and have the housing brazed.. The toughest problem will be getting the crack cleaned out enough so that impurities don't contaminate the weld.. good luck.. I had to replace the rear end housing on one of my Hs because of this problem.
