Part of B Casting Broke

This weekend I tore into the '40 B in ernest. Wrastled the engine off and now I'm left with just the torque tube, axles, and final drives. The PO had repaired the casting where the brake and clutch pedal shaft mounts, and came off. I have the two pieces to the casting. Has anyone fixed this problem? I was thinking of installing an ell that could be fastened to the casting by tapping a hole. The ell would then support the remaining pieces to enclose the shaft. Would this work or is there a better way. Seems to be overkill to find a salvaged torque tube at the bone yards.
