Hi Paul, It can be welded without any problem. The inside weld on the tube was not welded properly and thats why it continued to crack. It was cracked when it was first welded but the welder missed it on the first repair but had it been properly welded it wouldn't be cracked now. If you have to pay someone to weld these parts up and machine a new gear tooth, it's probablly going to be cheaper to get a repalcement. If your doing the welding yourself or a buddy, then do it as it will last well providing it's welded correctly. There's about 2hrs work with shop time at about $50/hr. If it was mine I would weld it and machine the teeth myself, but I'm a very experienced welder. T_Bone
