I tried using the SM hydraulic on a 3 pt. log splitter but it was too slow and too weak. I bought a PTO pump (25 GL/M and 2500PSI) from QF & F. Mounted the 3 pt. splitter, a tank, filter and lines on a little trailer that I pull behind the M. When not in use the pump sits on the trailer. Slip it on the M pto when you want to use it. Now it works great. Based on my experience I wouldn't recommend the SM system but someone on here probably could make it work. Good luck.
